Key Stages 1 and 2 are based on the UK National Curriculum.
It includes Numeracy, Literacy, ICT, RE, Science and
the foundation subjects with specialist teachers for
French, Music and Library skills. The maximum staff:
pupil ratio is 1:20. We carry out the Standard Assessment
test for 7 and 11 year olds (SATs), with excellent results.
In Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) we build on the achievements
developed in the Foundation Stage. Children are encouraged
to build on their individual skills and talents and
develop their own unique personalities. The aim in Years
3 and 4 is to continue developing the skills of communication,
literacy and numeracy. We provide an increasing number
of opportunities for children to apply their skills
in a range of exciting and challenging situations. In
Years 5 and 6 we build on and improve skills across
the curriculum. Our senior pupils are encouraged to
take on greater responsibilities and challenges which
focus on preparing them for the transition to secondary
education.
Our staff deliver a curriculum which offers an excellent
level of academic achievement whilst continuing to foster
a child’s creative, emotional and physical needs.
Our small class sizes ensure individual attention. British
Primary has an outstanding record of preparing children
for transfer to other schools in their home environment,
or to senior schools in the Brussels area.
